Botanical Foundations

Rooted in Nature. Backed by Heritage.
Beyond ingredients. Every botanical in our formulas carries centuries of tradition — chosen because it works.

Yi Tiao Gen
A root native to the Kinmen islands, wild-harvested rather than farmed at scale. Traced back to the 1660s, when soldiers stationed on Kinmen first turned to the root for relief. A staple of herbal practice for over 350 years, gathered wild in limited seasonal quantity.

Graphene
First isolated in 2004 (Nobel Prize in Physics, 2010). A modern material, not a heritage ingredient — valued for even, efficient heat conduction. Cutting-edge science paired with a centuries-old herbal root.

Tourmaline
A naturally piezoelectric mineral — when heated, it generates a small electrical charge and emits far-infrared wavelengths. A modern functional addition, valued for its heat-retaining properties.

Turmeric
Known in Chinese medicine as jiāng huáng, turmeric has featured in Chinese and South Asian herbal practice for over a thousand years. Valued for its warm, earthy character.

Hinoki Cypress
One of Japan's five sacred trees, used in temple and shrine construction for over a thousand years including Ise Shrine's 20-year rebuilding tradition since 690 CE. The same heritage carries into Japanese bathing and forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) practice today.

Peppermint
A related mint, Bo He, is a genuine, long-used Chinese herb valued for its cooling character — appearing frequently in classical Chinese herbal texts.

Wintergreen
The Asian wintergreen species has a documented history in Chinese ethnomedicine. Oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and stems.

Eucalyptus
Native to Australia — the only ingredient in this bundle with Australian origins. China is now the world's largest producer of eucalyptus oil, introduced in the early 1900s where it became part of local herbal medicine.

Benefits

Maximum warmth for deep muscle recovery
Graphene and tourmaline combined — the most intense, longest-lasting heat in the range. Applied as a patch, worn all day.

Steady warming relief on the go
Far infrared warming gel — cool on contact, building to a steady, even warmth. Roll on and carry on.

Clear the head. Reset the body.
Hinoki cypress from the sacred forests of Japan — one of the most recognised botanicals in East Asian wellness spaces. Roll onto wrists or neck and breathe.

Yi Tiao Gen where it matters most
The highest concentration of Yi Tiao Gen in the range, in a rich muscle cream that absorbs without residue. Apply wherever you need it most.

We go beyond clean ingredients. Every botanical in our formulas is thoughtfully sourced for its origin, rooted in heritage, and harvested with care.

Yi Tiao Gen (active root)

Yi Tiao Gen (active root)

A root native to Kinmen islands, in the Taiwan Strait. Wild-harvested rather than farmed at scale.

Local record traces its use back to the Koxinga era in the 1660s, when soldiers stationed on Kinmen are said to have first turned to the root for relief. It has remained a staple of herbal practice for hundreds of years.

Gathered wild in limited seasonal quantity, with roots typically harvested after three years of growth, in autumn and winter.

Graphene

Graphene

A modern material — a single layer of carbon atoms, first isolated in 2004 (Nobel Prize in Physics, 2010).

Valued for even, efficient heat conduction — why it's used in our warmest patch and roller.

Tourmaline

Tourmaline

A mineral valued for its heat-retaining properties. Tourmaline is naturally piezoelectric — when heated, it generates a small electrical charge and emits far-infrared wavelengths.

Mined globally, including Brazil, parts of Africa, and China.

Unlike Yi Tiao Gen or turmeric, tourmaline is a modern addition — valued for its warming function.

Hinoki Cypress

Hinoki Cypress

Native to Japan, growing in the mountainous regions of central and southern Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu.

Native to Japan, growing in the mountainous regions of central and southern Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu.

Oil is typically steam-distilled from wood offcuts and branches, often a byproduct of sustainable forestry.

Wintergreen

Wintergreen

Two distinct wintergreen species exist worldwide: one native to North America, and one native to Asia — found across the Himalayan belt, Nepal, India and China's Yunnan province.

The Asian wintergreen species has a documented history in Chinese ethnomedicine, traditionally used for joint and muscular discomfort.

Oil is steam-distilled from the leaves and stems.

Hero Ingredients

Yi Tiao Gen · One Root is the heart of traditional herbal medicine in Taiwan. Wild-harvested, potent and used in household herbal practice for over 350 years.

Roots take three years to mature before harvest. Supply is naturally limited — which is part of why it has never become a mass-market ingredient, and why it remains genuinely rare outside of Taiwan.
