Yi Tiao Gen (active root)

Yi Tiao Gen (active root)

icon
Origin

A root native to Kinmen islands, in the Taiwan Strait. Wild-harvested rather than farmed at scale.

icon
Heritage

Local record traces its use back to the Koxinga era in the 1660s, when soldiers stationed on Kinmen are said to have first turned to the root for relief. It has remained a staple of herbal practice for hundreds of years.

icon
Harvest

Gathered wild in limited seasonal quantity, with roots typically harvested after three years of growth, in autumn and winter.

Far Infrared Mineral Powder

Far Infrared Mineral Powder

icon
Origin

The use of heated minerals for therapy stems from centuries-old Asian practices, including Korean jjimjilbang saunas and heated stone beds.

icon
Heritage

Practitioners historically relied on materials like jade and volcanic stone, believing their natural warmth could help balance the body's energy, or Qi.

icon
Harvest

Today this heritage is modernised across Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, using high-temperature sintering to grind minerals into ultra-fine powders, embedded into fabrics and heat therapy products.

Tourmaline

Tourmaline

icon
Origin

A mineral valued for its heat-retaining properties. Tourmaline is naturally piezoelectric — when heated, it generates a small electrical charge and emits far-infrared wavelengths.

icon
Heritage

Mined globally, including Brazil, parts of Africa, and China.

icon
Harvest

Unlike Yi Tiao Gen or turmeric, tourmaline is a modern addition — valued for its warming function.

Turmeric

Turmeric

icon
Origin

Native to South and Southeast Asia, with India historically the largest grower. Also long cultivated in southern China.

icon
Heritage

Known in Chinese medicine as jiāng huáng, turmeric has featured in Chinese and South Asian herbal practice for well over a thousand years, valued for its warm, earthy character.
